She was born into a film family, Hudson seemed to be headed to make waves from a young age. Her mother Goldie Hawn was an actor in film and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. She was a performer since an early age. She was taught dancing by her parents and also was a ballet student at the Santa Monica Playhouse when she was a little girl. She started acting when she was given a guest appearance in the TV drama Party of Five in the year 1996. While she was accepted into New York University by Kate Hudson, her goal was to make a living in show business, but not earn an academic degree. After appearing in a couple of minor films and commercials, she was offered the part that would later become the focus of her career. She was selected to portray Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. Despite being a film that failed at the box office it was received a favourable critiques from critics, and it established Kate as an actress within the American film industry.
